Vermont SlateWright uses Greenstone slate quarried in Vermont and New York where the quarries have been operating since the 1800's.

Vermont slate is considered one of the most durable and dense slates in the world. It is the longest lasting roofing material known. It is available in many warm colors complemented by the natural texture of the slate.

Slates natural durability and resistance to weather and temperature combined with the cosmetic assets, makes slate superiorly adaptable and ideal for all environments.

The variety of colors and special shaped slates can be used to create artistic effects. These can be produced in most sizes to individual requirements.

Slate is unaffected by normal extremes of temperature and is highly resistant to acids, alkalis and other chemicals. It retains its color as it fades gracefully, even in UV light, and is impermeable to water. Slate is absolutely fire proof and non combustible. Slate is impervious to fungus and mold.
